Child of the Library
Jul. 19th, 2012 07:47 pmI had a strange thought today whilst standing outside next to a food service truck: I am the product of every book I've ever read. It was a brief thought that passed through me and I had to explore it later. I don't do it often, but sometimes I re-read books I loved a long time ago, and I'm surprised at the words, phrases, mannerisms that the author and characters used that I've consciously or unconsciously adopted. Things I've forgotten but still do. It makes me smile.
Of course, I could say the same things about movies or TV shows, but they're just not as intimate an experience. They don't feed the mind in quite the same way.
